Wednesday November 12, purchasing new batteries and doing a little provisioning

Spent quite a bit of time transferring stuff into the boat today, it’s a bit of a process since the deck of the boat is about 15 feet in the air. Cathy loads stuff from the truck into a bag on the ground at the end of a rope, I pull the bag up into the deck, put it back down through the companionway to the cabin floor, then go down below and unload the bag. We’ve probably transferred about 75 bags of stuff so far, with lots to go. Right now today’s stuff is transferred but not yet stowed where it belongs, see picture below for a bit of an idea.
We also made a trip to West Marine today and picked up lots of stuff on our outfitting and provisioning lists and all new batteries (big batteries) for the boat, which I’ll try to get installed tomorrow.

When I read your post it surprised me to understand how much stuff can fit in the boat. I must have an inaccurate mental picture of the interior size and storage capacity. Then I realized it HAS to be able to store tons of stuff because, once you’re underway, you won’t be able to just pop down to the corner store to get that thing you forgot or ran out of!
As always, wishing you both the best and envying your determination and courage! 🙂
