We’re boat owners! We’ve successfully negotiated the purchase of “Pier Pressure”
We’ve agreed to purchase “Pier Pressure” and plan to have her put “On the hard” at the Hinckley Marine yard in Stuart, FL. There we’ll have the bottom sanded, painted, the rudder bearings replaced and the standing rigging replaced. Maybe more, we’re still talking to the yard.
Survey complete, negotiating results
I’ve requested consideration for the “MAJOR” items that were found in the survey, requesting that the seller split the difference 50/50, and have revised the acceptance offer accordingly . All the acceptances stuff has a deadline of tomorrow, so hopefully we hear back soon, the ball’s in their court. To get her ready for open blue water, there’s LOTS to be Read More
House is now closed, money in the bank. Sea Trial & Survey Monday
Big step finally completed. Now we do the sea-trial, if it’s acceptable we’ll have it hauled for the survey. Still on target for a closing date of 7/31
Looking for boat names
We’re not sure we like the name “Pier Pressure”, so we’re trying to think of a good name that is representative of us, our personalities, our plans, etc… Already considered “Crazy Loons”, didn’t think it would fit. Name shouldn’t be too long, too difficult to say (have to use this name ALOT on the radio Read More
Figured out where the boat will live until we GO BLUE! Also, house status update.
If the sea-trial and Survey go OK, we’re going to keep the boat in the same slip it’s in. A couple of advantages to this: Don’t have to fly to Florida to move boat around – somewhat of a logistics nightmare with one person Don’t have to find another place to put boat. So, the boat’s Read More
Offer accepted!
The owners of Pier Pressure have accepted our offer, and now we have to schedule the sea trial and survey. Pending the results of these, this will be our new home! NO MORE BEING HOMELESS! Probably a little sooner than we were expecting, but it’s comforting knowing that this part of our journey is ready to go. Read More
Offer started
We’ve e-mailed an offer on Pier Pressure and we’re waiting to hear back… It’s subject to sea trial and survey. I’m sure they’re going to ask for a deposit now and put together a formal offer for us to sign. For the sea trial the seller has to provide a captain to take boat out with whomever Read More
