OFF TO SEE THE MOUSE!

Today we start our journey to southern California and Disneyland.  While we’re there we’ll also get to see Annie Beaver, the first baby I ever held… She’s now in college going to Redlands, near San Bernadino.

We’d also like to get over to see the ocean too, but I have a feeling that things will be to busy for that. Besides, we’ll have lots of time for that in another month.

As for the boat, the old sails were like tissue paper, so they won’t work as spares, but the mast is back in the boat, boom’s been attached, the standing rigging, running rigging and the lifelines have all been completed as well.

The rudder is being looked at as well, it’s more than just a rudder bearing issue, but shouldn’t be too much more money to repair. At least the rudder is in good shape.

Shopping for a place to keep the boat for a month after we get there and re-float, it’s not gonna be cheap. I may only keep it on the dock for a week or so, then anchor out.  Need to get a dinghy, replace the batteries and the exhaust elbow ASAP and pick up another anchor so we have more flexibility when dropping the hook. After that, we should be able to declare independence from the shore.  Researching anchorages as well, and may look into just picking up a mooring ball while we’re shaking things out before we go…

In  less than a month we’ll be “fixed income”, er… NO INCOME…

We’ve purchased the new radio with GPS and AIS, but I still need to get an NMEA gateway to put our signals onto the in-house boat network.

Well, in about 30 minutes we’ll be telling the girls that we’re going to Disneyland, so I can’t miss that! Hoping for a wonderful week for all!
