The sailing vessel Duet is growing closer to being ready to launch. So far she’s had the following done:
- Mainsail replaced.
- Headsail replaced.
- Mack Pack installed – (macksails.com/mackpack.htm)
- New spinnaker created and installed along with a spinnaker pole and snuffer.
- Standing rigging replaced.
- Running rigging replaced.
- All the lifelines replaced.
Everything in the list above was done my Mack Sails in Stuart, FL. They’ve been great to work with.
This week the list includes having the rudder bearings and bushings replaced and all the steering checked and calibrated, We’re also having the hull from the waterline to the rub-rail and all the topsides compounded and waxed so they look pretty in time for the launch. The bottom has been prepped but still needs to be painted, that will be done in the next couple of weeks.
Launch date for Dean & Cathy to drive cross-country is Monday, November 3rd.
Launch date for boat is scheduled for November 15th.
Between those two dates we’ve got to do quite a bit of work on safety equipment and replacing both the house and starting batteries. See the page Pending Repairs/Upgrades for more information on where we’re at with everything.
