Finally have some Internet access so I can update the blog.
On Monday the 19th, we left West End and sailed up to around Memory Rock, where I jumped in the water to check the underside of the boat, we stayed the night on the bank… Pretty cool, anchoring in 15 feet of water with no land around anywhere. Here’s a couple of pictures I took on Tuesday morning.
While sailing north from West End, I threw one of my new lures into the water to drag behind us… Just about the time we had to do a major course correction and avoid shallow water, the fishing reel starts buzzing! I’d hooked about a 2 foot barracuda and reeled him in. I got the hook out of his mouth and set him loose… Didn’t get good pictures because I was trying to get the hook out of his toothy mouth while Cathy was driving the boat.
Tuesday night we spent the night at Mangrove Cay, Wednesday night at Great Sale Cay, then Thursday night at Hawksbill Cay.
While trying to string up an antenna on Friday so I could pick up a shortwave radio weather broadcast, I lost the main halyard up to the top of the mast, so I had to go aloft and retrieve it.
Friday we took a walk through Fox Town and picked up some gasoline for the dinghy and generator, then spent Friday night and Saturday in Crab Cay, where the wind was howling and keeping us from moving forward. I spent some of the downtime to work on installing the watermaker, to discover that I’m missing a couple of plumbing pieces. Cathy tried out our “R2D2” portable washing device, and did some laundry.
Sunday morning we went to Coopers Town and walked around and took lots of pictures!
And a pretty butterfly landed on my shirt..
From there we went to Manjack Cay for 2 nights waiting out some nasty weather. While there we went exploring on the beach and found some native wildlife along the beach!
Tonight we’re anchored in White Sound within Green Turtle Cay, where we finally have some Internet! Tomorrow we’ll go try and find the plumbing parts for the watermaker install, and search for PIZZA! I’ve got a NEED!
