Today we walked a few miles to the other side of the island to the ferry dock and rode the ferry to Hope Town and went to a very nice Methodist Church service.
Hope Town seems to be a really nice, small “everyone knows everyone” type of place. The only kerosene, manually operated lighthouse in the world is here, one reason we wanted to visit… Unfortunately, the lighthouse was closed for maintenance… But we did take a few pictures from afar…
And of course, being Sunday, almost everything else in town was closed too. We finally found a small hole-in-the-wall “snack shack” place for lunch called “Munchies”. The cracked Conch burgers were AMAZING! A very nice lady running the place and it was a wonderful lunch. We ate yummy ice cream there too!
After we got back we went on a tour in our dinghy around the harbor to scope out places to buy diesel. On our way back to the boat we stopped to visit Harry and Finola aboard the sailboat “Escape Velocity”. We’ve been running into them frequently since we arrived at West End. After a bit we all decided to go to the “Big Game” party at “Snappa’s” bar and grill. They had pizza and chicken wings (neither was very good) so I got my pizza fix.
